Kernel Panic: 2008-03-03
Some customers experienced an unexpected reboot in the small hours of the morning.
One of our hosts suffered a kernel panic at 03:45 GMT. Preliminary investigations indicate that we fell foul of a bug in Solaris' ZFS, during routine zone backups. Customers affected will have suffered approximately 15 minutes' downtime depending on zone boot sequence.
Obviously, this is a regrettable incident and we are naturally sorry for any inconvenience suffered. Unfortunately, this isn't something that could have been reasonably forseen or avoided. Needless to say, we're following this matter up with Sun, especially as this seems to be a carbon-copy of the panic we suffered last July.
Any questions? Just ask.
